So yet again, the fabulous Horton Cars have allowed me to review one of their cars, and this one was an absolute blast! This 940 felt like a solution to so many problems and completely blew my mind for a 34 year old 281,000 wagon with its incredible comfort, refinement and driving ease. And of course, now, I want one – so I will be taking donations. See below for my YT review, visit Tiktok for my short review or keep reading for good old fashioned words on pap- oh, never mind. Old fashioned -ish words in a screen then is the most traditional you’ll get from me for now.

I’ll start off by saying with confidence that this car is the most comfortable car I’ve ever driven. The denim like seats work a dream alongside the cars boaty suspension (which is perfectly welcome in a car that sets out to do what this one does.) to keep you as comfortable as possible.

I believe it should be written in to law that anyone charged with dangerous driving or excessive amounts of speeding should be made to drive an old Volvo estate. Drive one of these and any urge to start hooning around disappears with immediate effect – yet you remain just as happy as you would driving spiritedly in say a BMW. The character, comfort, character and charisma of the machine means the driver is more than happy merely plodding along at or below the speed limit.

Both bodily comfort and mental comfort are assured by the 940 as its reliability record is perhaps second to only the best toyota offerings. This particular example is the least powerful variant of the 940 that was made. It uses a naturally aspirated 2 Litre variation of the trusty red block engine. Larger engine sizes and turbocharged versions were also available, but the simpler configuration in this one offers less complexity to do what complex things do: break. And with 283,000 nye on trouble free miles on the odometer, this 940 proves the power of Volvo and the power of maintenance; it would take 12-14 business months to rack through the service history and invoices attached to this car.

As I’m sure you can imagine, the 940 comes with space galore! The boot could cram in the whole population of Sweden and then probably the rest of Scandinavia could squeeze in to the rear seats.

I’ll keep it brief on here, so if you are intrigued for more detail do see the Youtube Video attached.
